WHAT YOU NEED
Screwdriver
Pick or small flathead
STEP 1: REMOVE THE DOOR PANEL SCREWS

There are typically these four small ones, although some have one behind the door panel and some have one slightly above the arrow.

Then there are these two larger screws, which should be all of them, but who knows, maybe GM had one year where there was one somewhere else.
STEP 2: REMOVE LOCK PULLER

Just screwed on hand tight :D
STEP 3: REMOVE WINDOW CRANK (IF EQUIPPED)

This is a bit of a booger; the two arrows are pointing at the tiny metal clip holding the crank on, good points to get your tiny screwdriver or pick. If you try the arrow on the right, you just need to pull it off, but this typically results in it entering the stratosphere. If you use the arrow on the left try to get the tool in the crack and pry the clip out, if you get it slightly out, you can typically switch to the other arrow and slightly pull to remove it gently without losing it.
STEP 4: PUSH UP ON DOOR PANEL

The door panel is finally held on by these four clips on the very top; they are pretty much completely unreachable due to the window. No positioning of the window helps this.
You just have to push up on the door panel; typically, the one closest to the door lock gives out first. From there, you can get your hand under the door panel where the remaining clips are and negotiate their release.
This is typically quite a pain, and damaged clips may result if not careful.

While doing this you also have to keep the door handle in mind; typically pulling it into the open position and pushing up and out on the door panel is the best way to remove it.
